At The Bardo, we understand that detoxification can be a challenging process, and that’s why we offer comprehensive detox and rehab services that are tailored to your individual needs with treatments ranging from pharmacotherapy, addiction counselling, holistic treatments, and other proven methods. Our experienced and compassionate medical staff will guide you through the detox process and provide you with the support you need to overcome addiction. Our holistic approach to rehabilitation includes individual counselling and support, as well as complementary therapies such as yoga, meditation, and personal training to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
At The Bardo, we believe that preventing relapse is just as important as treating addiction. That’s why we offer comprehensive relapse prevention services that include ongoing counselling and support plus opportunites to return to The Bardo when things are getting tough. Our goal is to provide you with the tools you need to maintain your sobriety and live a fulfilling life. Your past addictions may be pulling you back and you may have started to use again. Before it gets out of control again a relapse prevention stay will reaffirm your commitment to your recovery and stop a full blown relapse. Our program includes individual and support, as well as educational sessions covering the triggers and warning signs of relapse. With the right support and tools at this difficult time, you can stay on track to continue with your long-term recovery objectives.
Our respite care services involve providing a safe and supportive environment where you can take a break from your addiction and focus on their recovery. You may have already completed detox and rehab but have not relapsed. However, life may become overwhelming again and some time out to gather some strength and regroup is what’s needed.
During your stay, you will receive a personalised treatment plan. This could include counselling, complementary therapies, and wellness focussed activities for you to develop coping skills and healthy habits that will support your ongoing recovery. Ultimately, the goal of respite care is to rest and reset.
So, what does The Bardo’s detox and rehab process entail…
Intake assessment - prior to arrival
The Bardo’s trained staff will organise an intake assessment over the phone within 24 hours, and together a plan will be created for your admission. During this assessment, identification of any detox needs will be discussed.
The prescriber will organise an appointment to discuss your medication needs, prior to arrival. Your medications will be securely kept at The Bardo and provided to you during your stay according to your prescribed withdrawal regime.
A letter is required from your doctor stating that they are medically fit for detox. Guests who have already detoxed can be admitted to The Bardo for the rehab program any day of the week.
Daily Therapies and Activities
Our complementary therapists offer a range of modalities to complement your detox and rehab, including:
- Addiction and Generalised Counselling
- Diet, supplementation and nutritional advice to optimise recovery
- Massage, yoga, acupuncture
- Personal training and exercise for health and wellbeing
- Recreational pursuits
- Social and spiritual development opportunities depending on personal interests
During the detox phase, medication is an important strategy to help minimise side effects such as cravings, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. This is called pharmacotherapy, which is a specialised area of medicine. Before your arrival, you will see an external prescriber who will prescribe appropriate medication for your time at Bardo, while you are going through detox. Guests may also choose to have their own practitioner prescribe medications during their stay. When this occurs, Bardo staff will communicate with the practitioner to ensure clarity around the medication regime that is being prescribed. During your stay, our staff will supervise your medication administration to ensure you are safe.

Relapse Prevention Stay and Counselling
Sometimes the journey of recovery can be difficult to navigate. The pressures of life may be such that the thought or act of using drugs or drinking alcohol become overwhelming.
This is where we would recommend returning to The Bardo for a residential stay or enter into an intensive counselling phase with opportunities to visit The Bardo and take part in some of our therapies to assist in keeping your recovery progressing.
We also offer stays at The Bardo even if relapse or potential relapse from alcohol or drugs is not an issue.
Self-care is crucial in today’s hectic world. Stepping away from life and taking a pause by entering The Bardo could be just what’s needed. Availing yourself of the care and serenity of the therapies and environment may be just the thing to recharge your batteries and get back on track mentally, physically, and emotionally.
